TOUR OPTIONS

2-Day “Weekend” Michigander

Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13, 2008

Ride the Musketawa Rail Trail

Approximately 30 miles each day

Package prices - Youth (7-17) $85; Adult (18+) $95

After May1, 2008 $15 Late Fee Applies

Includes showers, map, gear transport, SAG service, dinner and

camping at Muskegon, (Orchard View Middle School) on July 12,

breakfast on July 13. Lunches not included.

6-Day Michigander

Sunday, July 13 - Friday, July 18, 2008

Approximately 275 miles from Muskegon to Traverse City, with

overnight stops in Rockford, Edmore, Big Rapids, Cadillac,

Traverse City and ending with a loop ride on the last day back to

Traverse City.

Package price - Youth (7-17) $278; Adults (18+) $298

After May 1, 2008 $35 Late Fee Applies

Includes showers, map, gear transport, SAG service, camping, dinner

July 13-17, and breakfast July 14-18.

Lunches not included.

7-Day Michigander

Combine the 2 & 6-day rides for approximately 300 mile trip.

Pre- and Post-Ride Shuttle Service

is Available for an Additional Fee

Optional Pre-Ride Shuttle: (6-Day Riders Only): The optional preride

shuttle service on Saturday July 12th will shuttle you and your

bike from Grand Traverse County Civic Center (Traverse City) to

the starting point in Muskegon (Orchard View M.S.) Includes: long

term parking pass, bike transport, camping, and dinner in Muskegon

July 12th, and breakfast July 13th. Please arrive by 10 a.m. to register

and load your bike and depart from Traverse City at 1 p.m. Cost:

$50

Optional Post-Ride Shuttle: (6 & 7-Day Riders) The optional

post-ride shuttle service on Friday July 18th will shuttle you and your

bike from Grand Traverse County Civic Center (Traverse City). Bike

loading will begin at 1:00 p.m. The trucks will leave at 2:00 p.m. in

order to be in Muskegon at the same time as the buses. The buses

leave at 3:00 p.m. Includes: Bike Transport. Cost: $45

SHUTTLE.

with your confirmation letter, for details about moving your vehicle

to the post-shuttle destination.

DETAILS ABOUT THE RIDE

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: All registration forms and payment

must reach us by June 29, 2008

EQUIPMENT: CPSC approved helmet must be worn by all

riders.

BIKE: For the trail rider, a hybrid or mountain bike with tires

large enough to handle a variety of trail surfaces (paved, gravel

and unimporved trails) encountered along the way.

“New” Road bike route. A fully paved road bike route available

this year. Bicycles must be in good working condition. A list of

other suggested equipment is on our website.

OVERNIGHT STOPS: Overnight outdoor camping facilities

will be provided with showers. Riders must provide own tent and

sleeping bag. Anyone wanting to use hotels must make their own

reservations and transportation arrangements. There are limited

hotels in some of the overnight towns and your are encouraged

to make arrangements far in advance. Some hotel numbers will

be provided in the ride guide you receive in your confirmation

packet and on the MTGA website or check with the local Chamber

of Commerce for each town.

MEALS: A general diet will be provided for breakfast and dinner

unless the vegetarian option is checked on the application form.

Lunchs are the responsibility of the rider and can be purchased at

various towns along the route.

BAGGAGE TRANSPORT: Riders’ gear will be transported

from one overnight stop to the next via baggage trucks. Riders

need only carry personal items and appropriate emergency information

during the day’s ride.

SAG: Sag stops with water will be available approximately every

10 miles along the route.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONING: This tour is designed for those

in good physical condition. “Sag Wagon” support vehicles will

follow the tour for mechanical and emergency pickup, but riders

are expected to be capable of reaching destinations under their

own power. Training recommendations can be found on our website

at www.michigantrails. org.

BICYCLE REPAIR: Bicycle repair will be available on route

and in camp for a fee.

17th ANNUAL T-SHIRT AND JERSEY:

Check the appropriate box on the registration form to purchase

clothing items. Only limited numbers of clothing items will

be available for sale during the tour. T-shirt and jersey designs

may be viewed on our website at www.michigantrails.org when

completed.

MINORS: All minors under 18 must ride with parent or guardian

at all times. Application must be mailed with parent or gurardians’s

application.

WAIVER FORM: For application acceptance, the release of liability

form must be signed by the rider or in the case of a minor,

by a parent or guardian.

CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS: All

cancellation requests must be in writing and postmarked no

later than June 15th, 2008. All cancelations are subject to a $25

processing fee. No cancellations will be allowed after June 15th.

We highly recommend the purchase of travel insurance to our

participants. Travel Insurance will help protect you from financial

loss in the event your vaction with us is cancelled or interrupted

VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are needed during the ride to drive

trucks, support rest stops and many other jobs. If you or a spouse

or a friend is not riding and would like to volunteer, please have

them fill out the top part of the application and check the appropriate

check box in the volunteer section of the application and

mail it to Michigander. We will contact them with more information.

CONFIRMATION: A confirmation packet will be emailed to

you within 4 weeks of receipt of your restiration. Please include

your email address on the application. If you do not have an

email address a confirmation packet will be mailed to you. Included

will be confirmation letter and ride guide providing many

more details about the Michigander.
