I-275 Recommendations Nearing Final Release

posted in Trail News |

Now that the engineering team’s draft recommendations are complete, Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance will kick off the last round of public input on May 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nankin Mills County Park on Hines Drive. (address for Nankin Mills is 33175 Ann Arbor Trail, Westland).  This event will coincide with the regular “Saturday in the Park”  event along Hines Drive, in which motorized traffic is prohibited so that bicyclists and pedestrians can enjoy full use of the parkway.  MTGA will have a tent on alongside the parkway where the public may view the recommended improvements and weigh in with their suggestions for the final report.  For more on this event, click here.

I would like to see a bridge over Ford Road because this is a very busy crossing especially on weekends (IKEA) when the trail would get more traffic. I also would like to see a fence between the trail and 275 which would make it safer for kids. Obviously future maintenance would be essential to keeping it nice. Keeping some of the existing green space along the trail would be great too. I have viewed the engineering plans and it looks like the drainage problems will be addressed. Thanks for your time.
